Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 10, 2024

1. Introduction

RateVault Protocol ("we", "our", or "the Protocol") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our decentralized protocol interface.

2. Decentralized Nature

RateVault is a decentralized protocol deployed on the Ethereum blockchain. All vault interactions occur directly between your wallet and smart contracts on-chain. We do not control or have custody of your funds at any time.

3. Information We Collect

When you use the Protocol interface, we may collect:

  • On-chain data: All blockchain transactions are public and permanently recorded on Ethereum
  • Wallet addresses: Your public wallet address is visible when you interact with the Protocol
  • Basic usage data: Anonymous analytics about how the interface is used (via privacy-preserving tools)
  • Technical information: Browser type, device information, and IP address (temporarily, for security)

4. Information We Don't Collect

We do not collect or store:

  • • Private keys or seed phrases
  • • Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
  • • Financial information beyond public blockchain data
  • • Location data beyond what's provided by your IP address

5. How We Use Information

Any information we collect is used solely to:

  • • Provide and improve the Protocol interface
  • • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • • Analyze usage patterns to enhance user experience
  • • Comply with legal obligations

6. Third-Party Services

The Protocol interface may integrate with third-party services:

  • RPC Providers: For blockchain connectivity (e.g., Infura, Alchemy)
  • Wallet Providers: MetaMask, Rabby, Phantom, etc. (see their privacy policies)
  • 0x Protocol: For swap routing and liquidity aggregation
  • Analytics: Privacy-focused analytics tools for usage statistics

These services have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices.

7. Blockchain Transparency

All transactions on Ethereum are public and permanent. Anyone can view wallet addresses, transaction amounts, and vault parameters on block explorers like Etherscan. This is an inherent characteristic of blockchain technology and not something we control.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect any data we collect. However, no internet transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your private keys and wallet access credentials.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:

  • • Access to information we hold about you
  • • Correction of inaccurate information
  • • Deletion of your information (where technically possible)
  • • Objection to certain processing activities

Note: On-chain data cannot be deleted or modified due to the immutable nature of blockchain.

10. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies and local storage to maintain your session and preferences. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function properly.

11. Children's Privacy

The Protocol is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Protocol interface or official channels. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
